Just over a year after she was shot and wounded while conducting a constituent gathering outside an Arizona supermarket, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) announced on Sunday that she would leave Congress this week to concentrate on her recovery.

"I don't remember much from that horrible day," Giffords says in the video.

"I have more work to do on my recovery," Giffords added.

"I am getting better," she said.

Here is the video where Giffords announces her plans.
