Oregon exchange works with only one browser

If you think the only internet troubles with the Obama health law are on the federal exchange at healthcare.gov, think again.

The state of Oregon continues to struggle with problems on its "Cover Oregon" internet health exchange site, as the Democratic Governor of that state says 100 people will be hired to process paper applications because the web site's enrollment capabilities still aren't working.

Not only that, but a web page that looks to be from inside the Cover Oregon site - tweeted out by the health exchange on Friday - indicates that only one internet browser will work to submit data for a health insurance application in the Beaver State.

"This online application is built and tested for use with Internet Explorer. Using other browsers may cause the form to not work properly," the web page states.

"The "submit" button does not work when used with the Macintosh Safari or Google Chrome browsers," adding that Ipads and mobile devices also don't work.

Also, the warnings on this page say that once you begin the application process, you only have three hours to complete it - over that, and your information is lost.

So far, the Cover Oregon web site has not been able to process any electronic applications for health insurance coverage.

Here is the full web page that can be found at the Cover Oregon web site:

Before you start filling out your application for health insurance and financial assistance, here are some things you should do and know:

1) Use the correct browser

This online application is built and tested for use with  Internet Explorer . Using other browsers may cause the form to not work properly.

Important:  The "submit" button does not work when used with the Macintosh Safari or Google Chrome browsers. Please do not use Macintosh Safari or Google Chrome browsers with this application. We are also not able to support the use of this form on Ipads or mobile devices at this time.

2) Gather what you'll need

At this time, it isn't possible to save this form and come back to it later. Once you start filling out this application online, you will have 3 hours to complete it. After 3 hours, your information will be lost and you will need to start over.

Because of the time limit, we recommend you look through the application and gather all necessary information before you begin typing. For example, you will need income information for the month you are applying.

Or, you can choose to print the application, fill it out and then mail or fax it in at your convenience.

3) Print a copy for your records

Before you click "submit," we recommend you click the "print" button so you have a copy of your complete application.

4) Protect your identity

If you are using a shared computer, fully close the browser after submitting your application. This will keep other users from having access to your personal information.

5) What happens after I click "Submit?"

Once you submit your application, the information goes directly to Cover Oregon for processing. If you need to send any proof (like proof of income, or immigration status), we will send you a letter letting you know what we need.
