Balanced Budget Vote
The House on Friday defeated a plan backed by Republicans to amend the U.S. Constitution with a Balanced Budget Amendment. The vote was 261-165 in favor of the effort, but a supermajority of two-thirds was needed for approval, as supporters fell 23 votes short.
