On the softball field Bainbridge Sophomore Lexie Delbrey was magic on the diamond, throwing a perfect game against Statesboro to fuel an 8-0 sweep before the Bearcats claimed game two 1-0. Appling County claimed game one of their series against Rutland 8-0, but the Hurricanes held on strong to win 5-3 in game two to force a game three. After Loganville lost game one of their series against Carrollton, the Red Devils forced a game three by besting the Trojans 4-2 in game two. Loganville went on the defeat Carrollton 4-0 for their second shut-out win this post season. Lee County claimed game one of their series against Evans but couldn’t put away the series and allowed Evans to win game two 3-2. Game three of the series wasn’t near as close as Evans shutout Lee County 12-0 to advance to the elite eight in class AAAAAA.
On the gridiron, the Eastside Eagles cruised past Druid Hills 56-0, scoring five first-quarter touchdowns on five offensive possessions and holding Druid Hills to just 30 total yards at the end of the first half. In the Beach vs. Johnson-Savannah game, Sophomore Damonte Smith rushed four yards into the end zone to give Beach the 7-0 lead with 8:26 left in the first. The Bulldogs second score came in the second when Junior Quarterback Jaylen Wells hit Senior Rashemel Cooper for an 18-yard touchdown. A third touchdown from Antonio Wright came shortly after, but the Johnson defense came up big with a 100-yard fumble return for a touchdown to keep the Atomsmashers in the game. A second touchdown for Cooper made it a 29-6 game with 9:59 left in the third, but Johnson battled back to score 16 straight points and close in on Beach. Smith rushed into the end zone with 3:36 left in the game to score his second touchdown of the night and secure the 36-22 win.
