The brackets for the Class AAAAAA boys and girls basketball playoffs are beginning to fill in as three of the eight regions wrapped up their tournaments on Friday, crowning champions and determining the final seeds.
Heritage-Conyers pulled off a sweep in Region 3. The Patriots’ girls teams beat Greenbrier 59-51, and the boys followed with a 68-66 victory over Grovetown. Both Heritage teams were the No. 1 seeds for the region tournament, which was held in Conyers, and will be the No. 1 seeds from the region in the state tournament.
Coffee and Valdosta played each other in both the boys and girls championship games in Region 1 and came away with a split. Valdosta won the girls game 53-50, but Coffee won the boys game 76-49.
The champions from Region 2 are the Brunswick boys and the Bradwell Institute girls. Brunswick beat Richmond Hill 52-48, and Bradwell Institute beat Glynn Academy 51-36.
Listed below are the teams that earned spots in the state tournament, along with the seeding they have secured if their region tournament has concluded. As of Friday night, those would be the teams from Regions 1-3. The other five regions will have their third-place and championship games on Saturday.
