It’s only fitting that one of the state’s basketball hotbeds should have its own holiday tournament. So it’s good to see the Savannah Holiday Classic back on the schedule, giving fans an opportunity to see some of the top boys and girls players.

The tournament is broken up into four mini-tournaments that are named after some of the famous squares in the historic city. The first- and second-round games will be played at various sites on Friday and Saturday, with all the championship games played at Savannah High School on Monday.

The Oglethorpe Square girls bracket starts on Friday with Glynn Academy vs. Islands at Johnson, Windsor Forest at Jenkins, Groves at Savannah, and Metter vs. Woodville-Tompkins at Beach. All games start at 4 p.m.

The Crawford Square boys bracket starts on Friday with Southwest DeKalb vs. Richmond Hill at Beach, Benedictine at Johnson, Brunswick vs. New Hampstead at Jenkins, and Calvary Day vs. Savannah. All games start at 8:30 pm.

The Washington Square boys bracket starts on Friday with Metter vs. Islands at Johnson, Effingham vs. Windsort Forest at Jenkins, Woodville-Tompkins at Beach, and Rockmart vs. Groves at Savannah. All games start at 5:30 p.m.
