Lithonia, fresh off its impressive win over the top-ranked 6A team in Mississippi, gets a crack at the Miller Grove dynasty tonight in the semifinals of the Chick-fil-A Invitational at Tucker. The game is slated to tip at 8:30 p.m.

Lithonia is 9-3 and ranked third in Class AAAA. The Bulldogs beat Meridian 56-51 to advance to tonight’s showdown with Miller Grove, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAA and winner of an amazing six straight state championships. The Wolverines advanced to the semifinals with a 66-26 win over Cedar Grove.

Senior Rodney Chatman, a 6-2 senior, leads the Bulldogs (-3). He had 19 points in their win over Meridian, Lithonia’s fourth win in a row since falling to top-ranked Grady on Dec. 11.

Miller Grove has its own superstar in guard Alterique Gilbert, a McDonald’s All-American candidate, who has signed with UConn. Gilbert had 37 points in the Wolverines’ last-second 73-71 loss to Lone Peak (Utah) in the finals of the FreeTaxUSA.com Shootout in mid-December. The Wolverines (10-2) have bounced back from that loss to win three in a row.

In the other Chick-fil-A semifinal, Tucker will face North Clayton at 7 p.m.
