Woodward Academy last week became the first team to defeat two No. 1-ranked opponents from its classification in one season since Peachtree Ridge in 2007. Woodward defeated top-ranked Cartersville 31-28 last week and previous No. 1 Blessed Trinity 13-10 on Sept. 6 and is 13-0 for the season. Only 19 teams in GHSA history have beaten two No. 1-ranked teams from its class, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association. Twelve went on to win state championships.
