Round 1 of the A-5A lacrosse playoffs was completed earlier this week. Last week, I posted my predictions for the outcomes on both the boys' and girls' side. So far, so good on the boys' side but I missed the mark on the girls' side.

Below are my prediction brackets with notes. For the latest bracket, go here.

Notes

  • No surprises here. No. 10 Wesleyan put up a fight against top-ranked Westminster, losing 13-11. In perhaps the best Round 1 matchup, No. 4 GAC edged No. 3 Lovett 9-7. No. 2 Kell had some trouble with Buford but won 11-8.
  • Notable second round matchups include No. 9 Marist and No. 1 Westminster; No. 5 Blessed Trinity at No. 6 Starr's Mill and No. 7 Woodward Academy at No. 2 Kell.

Notes

  • I was wrong about the St. Pius X Lady Golden Lions and Westminster Lady Wildcats. The unranked Golden Lions edged unranked Whitewater 9-8. Now they'll face No. 4 Kell. The No. 6 Lady Wildcats topped No. 7 Pinecrest Academy in a 20-19 shootout for the ages.
  • Notable second round matchups include No. 5 McIntosh at No. 1 Blessed Trinity, No. 2 Wesleyan at No. 3 Starr's Mill and No. 6 Westminster at No. 8 Marist.
