Work on a pedestrian bridge from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport's domestic terminal to the south parking deck, will temporarily disrupt traffic Saturday night.

The 120-foot section of bridge above the South roadway will be installed overnight Feb. 22-23.

Road closure work to close the outer part of the South upper roadway will begin at 7 p.m. Sat. Feb. 22. It will be completely closed by 9 p.m., and will reopen by 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 23. During the disruption:

  • Shuttle drop-offs will move to Terminal North starting 6 p.m. Saturday.
  • Airport-run parking shuttle pickups will move to Terminal South, lower level.
  • Those who park at South economy and those who are being picked up by ride-hailing services at Terminal south will exit at door LS1.

Airport officials say signs and green-coated guest service representatives will direct travelers.

The $55 million pedestrian bridges at the domestic terminal North and South should reduce traffic congestion and increase safety for people walking between the terminal and the parking decks. The bridges are scheduled to be complete by April 2021.
