Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said Atlanta will see more clouds Wednesday but things will stay dry. The projected high is 78 degrees.

North Georgia can expect to see more clouds in the sky Wednesday, but they won’t produce any rain, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The increase in cloud cover is thanks to an increase in moisture in the atmosphere. Channel 2 meteorologist Eboni Deon said no rain is in the forecast Wednesday, but the extra moisture will work with an approaching cold front to produce a few showers Thursday.

“It’s going to be really a great day to just get outdoors,” Deon said of Wednesday’s forecast. “Sunshine will be with us for one more day before the rain moves in. For today, we’re staying dry.”

Deon expects the most sunshine during the morning and early afternoon hours. With temperatures in the low 50s to start the day, it’s a good idea to dress in extra layers before heading out of the house, she said.

“By 9 a.m., temperatures will start to creep into the upper 50s, especially to our south, and then by the lunch hour well get into those lower 70s,” she said. “Temperatures by noon are going to be closer to where we would typically peak this time of year.”

The average high is 73 degrees, but Atlanta should make it to 78 degrees Wednesday, according to Channel 2. As the clouds start to increase this evening, temperatures will fall back through the 60s, which should make for ideal conditions for watching the Braves game from The Battery.

Deon said temperatures will be in the upper 60s by the time the first pitch is thrown for Game 4 of the League Championship Series at 8:08 p.m. It will stay dry and cool all the way through the game for those attending the watch party at The Battery, she said.

“Thursday, things will start to change and during the morning hours we could have a few showers around,” she said. “As that front moves in, we could be dealing with some scattered showers. Maybe a storm or two.”

Deon is predicting a 40% chance of rain Thursday, and she said some showers could stick around Friday morning. After that, North Georgia will clear out and sunshine will return for the weekend, she said.

Milder mornings, scattered showers Thursday and a drier weekend are all in North Georgia's five-day forecast, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

A major artery through Midtown Atlanta is shut down Wednesday morning after an active shooter situation was reported at a high-rise apartment tower. West Peachtree Street is closed between 10th and 14th streets while Atlanta police and the GBI are on the scene, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Commuters can take Peachtree Street, Northside Drive or I-285 as alternates, the Traffic Center reported. It was not clear when the road would reopen.

In northwest Atlanta, a paving project is causing delays on I-75 South for commuters getting into Midtown. The roadwork was blocking three right lanes south of Mt. Paran Road, the Traffic Center reported at 6:30 a.m.

U.S. 41 is a good alternate, according to the Traffic Center.
