The clouds and drizzle that have defined Atlanta’s weather the past few days finally headed out Saturday, promising a much nicer Sunday.
“It is finally going to clear up; the sun is going to return,” said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Jennifer Lopez. Today’s high could reach 65, she said.
Temperatures will still be in the 60s for children heading out early for trick-or-treating, Lopez said.
“With the clear skies around, once that sun goes down our temperatures will fall back down in the 50s,” Lopez said.
That also means it will be much drier for baseball fans by the time the Braves take the field for Game 5 of the World Series against the Houston Astros compared to the past two nights. First pitch is slated for 8:15 p.m. Sunday at Truist Park.
With temperatures expected to be in the low 50s and dropping to 50 by midnight, that would beat out the 1999 Braves-Yankees opener at Turner Field for the coolest World Series game ever played in Atlanta.

“Sunday, that is your best day this weekend as we wind down October, and hopefully wind down a Braves World Series win on Sunday night,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Expect congestion to pick up around the ballpark beginning at 4 p.m. To alleviate some traffic, the Georgia Department of Transportation has suspended lane closures on I-285 between Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Ga 400, and on I-75 from Moores Mill Road to I-575. The restrictions will be in place until midnight driving toward the stadium and until 3 a.m. driving away, according to the state agency.
