It’s going to be a mostly dry and warm weekend in metro Atlanta — perfect for the holiday.

A storm festering in the southeast coast will bring clouds and breezy winds into parts of Georgia on Saturday morning. The storm will be far enough away where it won’t impact metro Atlanta, but the Georgia and South Carolina border will see some showers through the day, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Ashley Kramlich said.

“It looks like a mainly dry weekend for us, but if you are heading down to the beaches, say the Georgia beaches, there’s the potential for rain for our Saturday,” according to Kramlich.

There is still a 20% chance of rain through the weekend. Certainly not enough to dampen your day.

Breezy conditions will pick up in the morning, when temperatures will settle in the high 60s, and continue throughout the day. The afternoon high will reach 75 degrees. Kramlich said highs this time of year should be reaching the low to mid-80s.

Sunday will be another warm day, but temperatures will remain below average. Partly cloudy skies will remain for Memorial Day, when temperatures will be just below 80 degrees.

A warming trend is coming in the days ahead and temperatures will start to feel more average for late May and early June. Metro Atlanta will be climbing up into the mid-80s by the end of the week.

Looking for things to do this weekend as the weather remains clear? The Atlanta Jazz Festival will be taking place at Piedmont Park from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday to Monday. Admission is free and there will be plenty of music and art to celebrate.

If you’re looking for something more active, the Annual Memorial Day Classics 5K at Atlanta is taking place Monday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those wanting to participate need to sign up and pay a fee.
