A passing shower is possible Friday, but overall weather conditions aren’t looking too bad across North Georgia, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

A flow of winds from the east is adding more moisture to the mix Friday, contributing to higher humidity and a 30% chance of rain, she said. With the addition of some clouds, Deon expects temperatures in Atlanta to top out at 78 degrees this afternoon.

“We will notice the cloud cover building in, mixing in with some sunshine,” she said. “It’s not going to be a gray day, it’s not going to be an all-out washout, but we’ll have the clouds around and we’ll have a little bit in the way of rain.”

A few sprinkles and showers are dotting metro Atlanta at the start of the Friday morning drive, but Deon said they should not cause any major travel issues. After the lunch hour, rain chances will increase as temperatures rise, she said.

Those headed to Athens on Friday for the University of Georgia’s spring commencement ceremonies might want to bring an umbrella. The evening ceremony for undergraduates will have the better shot at a passing shower, Deon said.

“We will be in the upper 70s during the early part of the day, and by the time that evening ceremony rolls around, temperatures will still be warm, but should drop off into the lower to mid-70s,” she said.

Temperatures in the 70s are forecast for the University of Georgia spring commencement ceremonies Friday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon. The evening ceremony could see a passing shower.

The shower chances will last through late Friday night, but Deon said Saturday morning will get off to a fantastic start with lots of bright sunshine. A 20% chance of a shower is in the forecast both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Deon said Sunday also comes with the chance of isolated to scattered thunderstorms.

“Some afternoon rain showers will be possible, and then those temperatures will be climbing,” she said. “By the time we get into next week, highs will be in the mid- and upper 80s.”
