Gus Malzahn kicked off SEC Media Days with a bang.
Auburn’s head coach said the SEC West is “a man’s league,” and it’s hard to disagree with him.
“In my opinion, the [SEC] West is the toughest conference in football, and I don’t think it’s close,” Malzahn said. “It’s a man’s league … If you’re not in it, you don’t understand it.”
The Tigers head coach called the SEC West a “conference,” but he meant to say “division.” Although, if the West was a stand-alone conference, it would be considered the best in college football, in many people’s opinion.
The SEC West has produced five national championships since 2007. This year, two teams from the division should be in the conversation: Auburn and Alabama.
When you include LSU, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas, there’s no question that the West is the best division in the game – and you could make a strong case that it’s the best in sports.
