Free ‘Selma’ screening for students (updated)
Correction: A previous version of this story said the screening was for grades 7 – 9. The Atlanta screenings are for grades 9-12.
Atlanta high school students now have the chance to see the movie “Selma” this weekend free of charge.
To take advantage of the discount, any students in grades 9 – 12 can show his or her student ID or report card at the box office of any of the following participating metro-area theaters, and get free tickets while they last.
The movement was initiated by African-American business leaders in New York and organizations across the U.S. when the film was released.
Yesterday, Selma, a biopic about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that was largely filmed in the metro area, was nominated for two Academy Awards — best picture and best original song.
