Marcelino Moreno and Jurgen Damm headline Atlanta United’s provisional roster for its Champions League game against Club America.
The game is scheduled to be played either Dec. 15 or Dec. 16 in Orlando. Atlanta United lost the first leg 3-0 in Mexico City in March.
Notably absent from the 35-man roster are Homegrown signings Andrew Carleton and Lagos Kunga, who were on loan with USL clubs this season. The roster does include Atlanta United 2 players forwards Erik Lopez, Jackson Conway and Phillip Goodrum, goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard and defender Jack Gurr.
The preliminary roster will be reduced to 25 during the first week of the roster.
Atlanta United’s players are on a break following the end of its season and are expected to reconvene on Nov. 30 to begin training for the team.
The team is expected to announce contract option decisions by the end of November, which means some of the players on the preliminary roster may not be on the 25-man roster.
Vice President Carlos Bocanegra said that the team was going to use its training for Champions League to get a look at some of the Atlanta United 2 players.
Conway tied for the team lead with six goals. Gurr started 16 matches and created 36 chances. Lundgaard had 13 starts. Lopez signed with Atlanta United during the summer and is expected to compete for a starting spot next season.
