Man walking to bus killed in DeKalb County hit-and-run

Police are still looking for the driver.

A family is seeking answers after a 54-year-old man was killed in a DeKalb County hit-and-run, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Walter Seals was trying to catch a bus last Monday at H.F. Shepherd Drive and Candler Road when he was hit by a car about 10:30 p.m. According to the news station, he left his aunt’s home just 30 minutes before and was walking along the side of the road without a sidewalk.

“They just took my son for just a piece of garbage that’s on the street and kept going,” Seals’ father, Willie Seals, told Channel 2.

Seals died the next day.

DeKalb police have not identified any suspects as of Friday, the news station reported. With few leads to go on, Seals’ family is hoping the driver of the vehicle, described as a white car, will contact investigators.

“I forgave him the minute I got the phone call,” Seals said of the driver.  “We've just been praying that he—him or her, or whoever it is— comes forward.”
