Wrecks are beginning to slow down metro Atlanta’s interstates, especially I-20 in DeKalb County.
Only a left lane of I-20 West remains open after a crash near I-285, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. Delays span back to Evans Mill Road.
Cobb County isn’t much better, since only the right shoulder of I-575 North is moving at Barrett Parkway after a crash, the Traffic Center reported.
In Gwinnett County, a crash is blocking a center lane of I-85 North near Jimmy Carter Boulevard, the Traffic Center reported.
Ga. 400 is recovering after all southbound lanes were briefly held to clear a stall near Northridge Parkway, according to the Traffic Center. All lanes have reopened, but delays span past Holcomb Bridge Road.
Construction woes continue in Buckhead as well. Crews are blocking a left lane of Peachtree Road at Collier Road in front of Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.
Drivers can expect southbound delays all week leaving Midtown, the Traffic Center reported.
At least North Georgia will not have to worry about inclement weather.
The main impacts of Hurricane Dorian have been confined to coastal Georgia as the storm hugged the shoreline Wednesday, according to Channel 2 Action News.
Dorian’s outer rain bands were hitting the coast Wednesday afternoon, but in North Georgia, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said not a single drop of rain is in the forecast.
“It is just wild that you have what's going on along the Georgia coast today, and then here in North Georgia, yes, it’s going to be hot, but you're going to have a beautiful day,” he said. “Lots of sunshine.”
Forecasters are watching Dorian’s track closely as the storm, now a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 110 mph, is predicted to weaken over the next 48 hours. The current projected track shows Dorian will continue north-northwest along the Georgia coast before making its way to North Carolina as a Category 1 hurricane.

Dorian will make a much closer pass to the Carolinas than it will to Georgia, Monahan said.
In North Georgia, Monahan said there is no change to the forecast. In Atlanta, we’re experiencing breezy conditions, a partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky and temperatures in the mid-90s.
As Dorian pulls away, conditions in coastal Georgia are expected to improve Thursday morning. North Georgia will be largely unfazed.
Warm, dry and sunny weather is forecast to continue through the weekend, according to Channel 2.
