WEDNESDAY’S WEATHER-TRAFFIC: Drier start before rain moves in

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan has your forecast

After days of wet weather, Wednesday is starting out a little drier.

However, that won’t last very long. Rain is in the forecast once again, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan.

Right now, things are relatively comfortable in Atlanta, with temperatures in the mid-70s. Outdoor conditions are fairly dry, but a bit muggy with humidity at 90%.

“Yesterday we had showers. Yesterday we had some downpours. This morning, just a stray shower for the morning drive,” Monahan said.

That’ll change around noon, though, when the chance of rain increases to 20%. By 4 p.m., the chance of rain will be about 50%.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across metro Atlanta, Monahan said. However, it won’t be a total washout.

“We will mix in some sunshine,” he said.

The good news is that things should dry out by the weekend, according to Monahan. Saturday is predicted to have sunshine mixed with clouds, and temperatures in the low 90s.

“As you would expect in this part of July, it’s going to start to feel like it in the next couple of days,” Monahan said.
