Summerlike weather has arrived in Atlanta, and it looks like it will continue at least a few more days.
“Should be a great Friday for us,” Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
The high in Atlanta is expected to hit 84 Friday, according to Burns. That’s 7 degrees above average for the date. And some cities could get downright toasty, such as Eatonton (88).

The 80-degree temps should continue through the weekend. Saturday’s expected high is 82 and Sunday’s is 80, and there’s very little chance of rain.
About 5 p.m. Thursday, it was 82 degrees in Atlanta after a high of 83, according to Channel 2.
“With the high pressure moving off the East Coast, we’re going to be bringing in more moisture, so we will start to feel that (temperature) increase,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said.

While air quality levels were moderate Thursday, a Code Orange smog alert was issued for Atlanta, Channel 2 reported. That means the air quality could become unhealthy for sensitive groups, who were urged to reduce intense activities and watch for coughing and shortness of breath. The air quality level in Atlanta was 52.

“If you have respiratory issues ... you may want to limit your time outside,” Minton said earlier Thursday.

Thursday's pollen count was 103 particles per cubic meter of air, down from 88 on Wednesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. While that is in the high range, the count is far short of the season high of 5,354.
