Mother Nature seems to be paying metro Atlanta back for that beautiful Valentine’s Day weather.

Following morning showers, gusty winds started to usher in cooler air Wednesday afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News.

"It’s gusting to 25 miles an hour in Atlanta,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Coastal Georgia is under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. Gusts up to 45 mph are possible there, according to the National Weather Service.

There was some good weather news in metro Atlanta. The rain, which caused problems during the morning commute, had a positive effect on pollen.

After hitting 513 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air Monday and 217 particles Tuesday, the pollen count was down to 20 Wednesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.

Far short of last year's season high of 4,107 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air, Wednesday's count was more on track with the amount of pollen metro Atlanta normally gets this time of year.

Last year’s count was 15.

Current temps are 46 degrees in Atlanta, 38 in Blairsville and 47 in Griffin.
