Scattered clouds across North Georgia could bring a few isolated showers Friday evening.

Some of the pop-up storms could even push back early fireworks shows ahead of the Fourth of July, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Areas east of metro Atlanta, from Gainesville to Athens, could see the heaviest downpours.

But look for a clearing trend at some point this evening, with the system moving completely out of the state by about 11 p.m.

Atlanta reached the expected high of 87 degrees, just below the average high of 89 for this time of year, Channel 2 reported. The humidity is at 79 percent.

“But it’s going to feel like lower 90s with the humidity,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Rain chances are expected to drop from 40 percent today to 30 percent Tuesday for the Fourth of July celebrations. The high is expected to be 89.

There won’t be any rain during The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, according to Channel 2. However, the forecast does call for high temperatures and humidity. Organizers have already issued a red alert, warning runners of potentially dangerous conditions.
