Downpours hit parts of metro Atlanta throughout the day, but middle Georgia perhaps saw the worst of the storms as a tornado watch issued by the National Weather Service lingers over the region until 8 p.m.
Isolated storms began to hit the metro area just after noon but moved completely east by 5 p.m., according to Channel 2 Action News.
Temperatures remained high in spite of the storms. Atlanta reached 78 degrees, just shy of the expected 79-degree high.
Possible tornado debris was spotted near Baldwinville in Talbot County, which is about 97 miles south of Atlanta. Trees snapped, two homes were reported damaged and one injury was reported, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
The storms didn’t quell pollen levels.
The warm weather boosted pollen levels from 30 particles per cubic meter of air Wednesday to 104 Thursday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.
