Apparently the state of Georgia has been pretty good this year, since Mother Nature is giving quite the gift Christmas Day.
There isn’t a single raindrop — or snowflake — in the forecast Wednesday, according to Channel 2 Action News. That’s great news for anyone who wakes up to find gifts in their driveway instead of their stocking.
There also won’t be any need for any open fires, unless roasting chestnuts are part of your plans. Temperatures will start out in the mid- to upper 40s across metro Atlanta, but the sun will quickly heat North Georgia into the mid-60s.

The projected high for Atlanta is 64 degrees, Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said. While that is about six degrees cooler than Tuesday, it’s still more than 10 degrees above seasonal norms.
“We’re still going to be well above your average temperatures Christmas Day,” he said. “We’ll start out with plenty of sunshine, but the wind is going to pick up a little (Wednesday).”
That slight northeast breeze will prevent Atlanta from returning to the 70s, but the wind should provide some excitement for anyone receiving a kite, drone or other flying object this holiday season.
If you heavily procrastinated on gift shopping, the Georgia Department of Transportation has a present for you. All lane closures on heavily traveled instates and state routes near shopping areas have been suspended until 10 p.m. Thursday.
While 115.6 million people are expected to travel this holiday season, Wednesday is expected to be among the least congested, according to AAA. That good news won’t carry over to Thursday though, which is predicted to be the worst day to travel in Atlanta.

Thursday and Friday will continue Georgia’s warm weather streak, with rain returning to the forecast during the weekend, according to Channel 2.
Sunday is expected to be especially soggy with a 70% chance of rain, so enjoy Mother Nature’s holiday gift before it expires.
