Wrecks cluttered metro Atlanta’s roads Friday afternoon, and now that the evening commute is here, everywhere remains slow.

The lightest delays are on Ga. 400 and the Southern Perimeter, but pretty much everywhere else is backed up, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Three left lanes of I-85 South are blocked by a crash near Steve Reynolds Boulevard in Gwinnett County, causing delays back to Sugarloaf Parkway, the Traffic Center reported.

Cobb County traffic is recovering from a multivehicle crash on I-75 South at Windy Hill Road, according to the Traffic Center. The lanes have reopened, but delays remain heavy. Northbound delays are heavy as well following construction near Ga. 92, which ended just before the evening commute commenced.

The bulk of the delays on I-75 in Henry County, the Downtown Connector and the Northern Perimeter are due to the increase in volume during the trip home, the Traffic Center reported.

Drivers between Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Cherokee County could see additional delays once the procession for 17-year-old Logan Droke begins. The teenager died from cancer, and his body is expected to arrive at the airport about 6 p.m. It will then be escorted north on I-75 to I-575 by Cherokee firefighters.

North Georgia is seeing lots of sunshine Friday, but you’ll have to take it with a side of sticky air.

The temperature in Atlanta has climbed to 88 degrees. Coupled with the humidity, it feels like it’s 90, Channel 2 Action News reported.

A little mugginess is not so bad considering there is a low risk of rain impacting travel plans Friday.

Afternoon highs are expected to stick to the upper 80s and low 90s across North Georgia, which is about average for this time of year, according to Channel 2. Those numbers will increase as Independence Day approaches on Thursday, Channel 2 reported.

Friday’s showers and storms should be limited. According to the forecast, any stray showers should be clearing out shortly after sunset.

Saturday will see more of the same isolated showers and temperatures near 90 degrees, but the chance of rain increases slightly to 30 percent, according to Channel 2. Any rain activity should develop in the afternoon, with Saturday morning expected to be mostly sunny.
