It’s currently 93, so those stuck in traffic better hope their air conditioning works.
Wrecks across metro Atlanta have caused many problem areas this afternoon, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
In north Fulton County, a truck fire on Ga. 400 North past McFarland Parkway has blocked all lanes, the Traffic Center reported. Expect heavy delays.
😬🔥Now ALL lanes blocked. Use Hwy 9 northbound from Alpharetta! #ATLtraffic https://t.co/lMzPfELfbj

In DeKalb County, two right lanes of I-85 near Chamblee Tucker Road are blocked by a wreck, which is also causing delays, the Traffic Center reported.

Because metro Atlanta is east of Hurricane Florence, subsiding air is helping to drop rain chances below 10 percent, according to Channel 2.
A beautiful and HOT day is underway. Today will be dry across N GA with temperatures climbing into the lower 90s. @BradNitzWSB and I are tracking when clouds increase and scattered rain arrives due to #Florence ahead at Noon. https://t.co/h02OP5VoVi

The heat will continue into this weekend, and Saturday should also break 90 degrees. That means those attending Music Midtown need to bring sunblock and drink lots of water.
However, they shouldn’t have to worry much about getting wet as the rain chance is 20 percent Saturday. The second day of the music festival poses a slightly higher rain chance of 40 percent.
That increase in rain is thanks to Florence, which is expected to move into western South Carolina by Saturday before continuing north, which will increase northeast Georgia’s chance of rain.
“We are not expecting any major impacts,” Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said. “As a matter of fact, as we continue to get in new data, it really looks like the bulk of the wind, the bulk of the rainfall, will be staying well to our north and east.”
Updated rainfall projections: 1-2" possible in NE and E GA, less than 1" in the Metro mainly Saturday night into Sunday. Flooding rain (which has already begun) expected in NC, SC and extending into VA and southeastern WV into Sunday and Monday. pic.twitter.com/7Dio34XJJj

Less than one half-inch of rain is expected in metro Atlanta on Saturday night into Sunday, with the northeast corner of the state seeing the best chance for showers developing.
“In terms of accumulation, we’re on the light side, especially compared to our friends in the two Carolinas into the two Virginias dealing with some extreme rainfall for the next couple of days,” Walls said.
Rain chances fall again Monday when the remnants of Florence push away from Georgia.
