The Southside was a problem area for traffic at lunchtime. Then it was Cobb County earlier this afternoon. Now, in the middle of Friday's evening commute, no interstate is being spared from delays, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Two left lanes of I-75 North in Cobb near I-285 are blocked by a wreck, which is also blocking the exit ramp to Windy Hill Road, according to the Traffic Center.
A crash on I-20 West at Lowery Boulevard is blocking the right lane, creating delays downtown, according to the Traffic Center.
An overturned vehicle in Gwinnett County has two right lanes of I-85 South blocked before Lawrenceville Suwanee Road, according to the Traffic Center.
In DeKalb County, a left lane of I-285 East is blocked near I-675 because of a crash, the Traffic Center reported.
At least the weather is nice.
After a chilly start Friday, North Georgia is looking at a stretch of beautiful weather that should last through the weekend.
While there were some 30-degree temperatures in the northeast Georgia mountains early Friday, there will be 70s by the weekend, according to Channel 2 Action News.
“You made it to the end of the week, and you've got a great weekend in the forecast for you,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
With sunny skies in the forecast from sunrise to sunset, North Georgia warmed up quickly Friday. Atlanta hit the 60s early in the afternoon and topped out at 66 degrees during the evening commute.
“Pretty nice for a Friday afternoon,” Monahan said. “We'll finish off in the upper 50s in Blairsville but low 60s in Gainesville, and into the mid-60s this afternoon in Atlanta.”
There is no rain in the forecast through the weekend.
“(A cold front) will just give us a mainly clear sky as we head through tonight, and it brings in more dry air for (Saturday), so it’s going to be even warmer,” he said. “Just a few clouds for the afternoon and a nice day for you to start off the weekend.”
With little to no rain accumulation over the past week, pollen counts are on the rise. The count for Thursday was 208 particles per cubic meter of air, which is in the high range. Channel 2 meteorologist Katie Walls said she expects the number to go up this weekend.
Highs on Saturday are forecast to reach 70 degrees. Just a few more clouds are expected to slip in for Sunday, helping metro Atlanta warm up to a projected high of 74, according to the latest forecast.
The trend of chilly mornings continues through the weekend and there’s a chance of rain Monday, according to Channel 2.
