North Georgia’s winning streak continues Friday with lots of sunshine, dry weather and low humidity.
Fourteen hours of daylight are possible Friday, and Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said the region should get all 14 of them.
The streak should hold through the weekend, he said, despite a slight chance of a shower in the mountains on Sunday.
“Yesterday was beautiful, today is just as beautiful, and even though we add a few more clouds on Saturday, it still should be pretty nice,” Monahan said.
Lower humidity is keeping North Georgia comfortable Friday morning. Temperatures are in the 60s in most spots, lower than Thursday’s morning lows after a cold front moved through.
“It’s one of those mornings you don’t need the air conditioner on the way to work,” Monahan said. “You can roll down those windows, open the moon roof and let that fresh air in.”
Thursday’s cold front is stalled along Georgia’s coast, where Monahan said the clouds and showers will stay Friday.
“We see a cloud-free sky for most of North Georgia today,” he said.
Another dry day is in the forecast Saturday, according to Channel 2. Clouds are expected to begin filling in Saturday ahead of Sunday’s 20% chance of a shower.
Monahan said the best chance of rain will be in the northeast Georgia mountains.
“There is a little better chance for a metro (Atlanta) shower on Monday,” he said.
Metro Atlanta traffic is stepping up to meet the nice weather conditions Friday. There are no early delays on any interstates, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Volume remains light traveling in and out of the city, the Traffic Center reported at 6 a.m.
