Hope you enjoyed that sunshine because it will be cold tonight.

A freeze warning should go into effect between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. Friday. Lows are also expected to hit the uppers 30s.

The sun helped warm things up earlier in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“It (was) a beautiful start to the afternoon, although it’s cool,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

The average high for this time of year is 65 degrees.

Current temps are 55 degrees in Atlanta, 46 in Blairsville and 55 in Griffin.

That’s better than the 40s metro Atlanta saw Wednesday, but it’s not exactly spring weather.

“We are in store for a nice warm-up though in the next few days,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Highs are expected to increase to 66 degrees Friday and Saturday in Atlanta.

Lows are forecast to reach 36 Friday and 52 Saturday.

Temps will be cool Friday morning but not as cool as they were a day earlier, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

The cold blast led to drops in pollen this week.

The pollen count Thursday was 45 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air, down from 251 on Friday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma.

Last year’s season high was 4,107 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air, and the pollen count this time last year was 670.

With the official start of spring just days away, similar spikes in pollen can be expected.

Experts say this week's cold snap could make things worse long term.
