Overnight temperatures led to some freeze warnings in North Georgia early Saturday, and the unusually cool weather should hang around awhile.

A high of 56 is expected Saturday in metro Atlanta, according to Channel 2 Action News. That’s 9 degrees below average for this date.

“It’s going to be even colder tomorrow,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said Saturday morning.

Cooler air moving into Georgia from the Appalachian area is keeping the temperature low. But significant rainfall is not expected during the weekend.

“I don’t expect much in the way of heavy rain over the weekend,” Monahan said.

About 4:30 p.m., the temperature in Atlanta was 52. In Dalton, it was 55, and in Griffin, it was 52.

Expect a low of 42 early Sunday, 4 degrees below average, with the high forecast at 51.

Cool and breezy for your Saturday afternoon
