ATLANTA FORECAST

Today: Mostly sunny. High: 51

Tonight: Mostly clear. Low: 35

Tomorrow: Late showers. High: 52

Don’t let the sunshine fool you.

It’s cold, metro Atlanta.

Temperatures were 45 degrees in Atlanta and 37 in Blairsville and Griffin just before 8 p.m. Friday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Temps were 10 degrees lower Friday afternoon than they were in Atlanta around the same time Thursday.

And that’s an improvement from earlier Friday, when temperatures in some areas were more than 30 degrees lower than they were early Thursday.

“Wind definitely has been a story the last couple of days, certainly the last 24 hours or so,” Monahan said. “We had the tornado in Jackson County.

“But also wind gusts yesterday up to 40 mph toppled some trees across parts of North Georgia. That wind, it is settling down though as we head toward tonight.”

Spotty showers are possible Saturday night in metro Atlanta, and even a few wet snowflakes are possible in the mountains, Monahan said.

Lows are forecast to hit 32 degrees Saturday and 42 degrees Sunday. Highs are expected to reach 53 degrees Saturday and 54 degrees Sunday.

There is a 90 percent rain chance Sunday.
