You will need rain ponchos if you're heading to the Braves' alumni events this weekend.
Former players who helped take the team to the World Series in 1991 — including Sid Bream, Francisco Cabrera, Mark Lemke, Charlie Liebrandt and John Smoltz — will sign autographs, take pictures and participate in a Braves Legends game this weekend.
But rain might dampen the stands a bit, according to Channel 2 Action News.
There is a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday and a 40 percent chance Sunday.
That, in part, means drivers, especially those in the North Georgia mountains, won’t escape wet weather during the evening commute Friday.
“And as we’ve seen in the last few days, some of these storms can pack a punch, (bringing) gusty winds, frequent lightning, even some pounding on roadways possible,” meteorologist Katie Walls said. “But fortunately we are expecting most of these showers and storms to be moving pretty swiftly, just as they did (Thursday) afternoon.”
Atlanta reached 90 degrees Friday, making it the 49th time that’s happened this year, meteorologists said.
Rain will fizzle out after sunset but is expected to return Saturday, as will temperatures in the 90s.
Temperatures were 85 degrees in Atlanta, 73 degrees in Blairsville and 81 degrees in Griffin just before 10 p.m. Friday.
Highs are expected to stay in the low 90s through Tuesday.
