Grab that overcoat, those mittens and that scarf — fall weather has finally arrived in Atlanta and may be here to stay a while.

It’s currently 57 degrees and will only get cooler from here on out.

The “coolest air of the season is blowing in tonight,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

The low is expected to drop to 43 by Wednesday morning, Channel 2 reported. It is the coldest Atlanta has been since April 8. Northern metro areas could see temps in the 30s.

Areas throughout North Georgia are expecting a drop to the upper 30s or low 40s and patchy frost — yes, frost — is expected.

The high is expected to hit just 60 Wednesday and 68 Thursday.

The mountains could see near-freezing temperatures Thursday. And metro Atlanta could start Monday in the 30s.

Atlanta’s next chance of rain is Saturday, ahead of a cold front.
