The current temperature is 59 degrees. Atlanta earlier reached a high of 63 just after 4 p.m., Channel 2 reported.

Temperatures should drop to the 40s overnight, Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Much of metro Atlanta is expected to wake up Tuesday in the mid-30s before reaching the projected high of 65. On Wednesday, Atlanta could see near 70-degree weather.

Rain should arrive later in the week, but it won’t lower temperatures. A cold front is expected to roll through metro Atlanta Thursday, bringing a 30 percent chance of rain, Channel 2 reported.

Showers aren’t expected until the evening and could roll over into Friday, bringing a 20 percent chance of rain.

The expected high is 66 and 65 Thursday and Friday, respectively.
