Georgians may know Tuscaloosa as a football town and the home of the University of Alabama, but it has much more to offer outside game days.

Pork ribs and white bread at Dreamland Bar-B-Que in Tuscaloosa are so good the Alabama Bureau of Tourism & Travel says they are one of the 100 dishes to eat in Alabama before you die.

The Alabama Natural History Museum, filled with fossils and fish in jars, 'is a little boy's dream,' according to a sign in front of the building.

The arboretum is located down a long, rutted dirt road past a shuttered golf course. Visitors enjoy strolling the grounds.

A tiny creature peeks out from a flower at the Arboretum at the University of Alabama. The 60-acre arboretum has two greenhouses, a picnic pavilion, a piney forest, wildflowers, a bog and children's gardens.

Visitors can soak up a little culture at the Bama theater in Tuscaloosa.
