For cowboys and cowgirls

Tennessee offers a great place to satisfy your cowboy hankerings. The French Broad Outpost Ranch, situated along the river in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, is arranged like an Old West town. There’s the timber-frame Lone Star Hotel, the Iron Horse Saloon where a bluegrass band plays and the dancing takes place during the summer, and, also in summer, a kid’s rodeo.

What’s the story, morning glory?

Human beings, young and old, love a good story. It’s just human nature. Some of the best stories you’ll ever hear – no, experience – are performed by truly great storytellers at the International Storytelling Center (ISC) located in the historic downtown of Jonesborough in northeast Tennessee. The ISC campus has a Storytelling Hall, a welcome center with special exhibits, plaza and courtyard. The world-famous annual National Storytelling Festival isn’t until October but the Center’s Storytelling Live program brings gifted storytellers in for daily live performances from May through October.
