Globe-trotting in Georgia, this time in Vienna.

Located in a restored schoolhouse, the Georgia State Cotton Museum bears colorful, informative witness to the role that "snow in the South" has played in the state and region's development.

Completed in 1891, the red brick Dooly County Courthouse remains a gracious, thriving destination spot in downtown Vienna today.

Nancy Dabnor's handmade dolls are among the many star attractions at Country Notions, her sewing, quilting and crafts shop on Union Street. Husband Paul sells lovingly restored antique tools in the shop next door.

Fields of cotton are visible all over Vienna - and baskets of it are on display at the Georgia State Cotton Museum.

Barbecue is serious business, as this entrance gate at the site of Vienna's annual Big Pig Jig festival attests. An intense competitive and eating experience, this year's Jig takes place Oct. 31 - Nov. 1.
