Seclusion and a sense of nature is what led Scott and Kim Mills to the community of Mountain Park when they built their home eight years ago.

Seclusion and a sense of nature is what led Scott and Kim Mills to the community of Mountain Park when they built their home eight years ago. The kitchen is the heart of the home and draws the family together. There's a television, and their 14-year-old son Tyler often does his homework there. Scott Mills also brings his laptop into the room.

The home includes several outdoor areas.

The Mills let light and nature into their home at every turn.

Kim, an interior designer, and Scott, a public relations executive, say their home was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. It includes earthy touches, such as the curved concrete fireplace in the living room.

The couple incorporated natural stone into the foyer and throughout their home.

The couple loves their Blue Dog lithograph, signed by artist George Rodrigue, in the dining room.

The Mills' kitchen cabinetry has a clean, simple look. Kim plans to change the counters and sink in the future.

The breakfast area has built-in shelves to display crockware and other collectibles.

Kim Mills uses the upstairs loft area as a work space to make use of the natural light.

The family enjoys their rec room, which has a prominent music theme. Tyler plays piano and has the guitar and drum set for the video game "Rock Band."

The master suite is bathed in calming colors.

The spa tub is surrounded by in dark wood, and the light is a schoolhouse-style.

The master bedroom includes a sitting area that opens onto a private deck.

The day bed swing on the deck off the master bedroom allows Scott Mills "to lie down and see the trees."

Kim Mills used mirrors to show off the guest room's vivid colors.

The use of bright oranges and yellows invigorate the guest bedroom. The print above the bed is a weed from a photo book.

Scott Mills made the powder room wooden vanity "with the help of a friend and a lot of power tools."

Tyler's room includes a retro Led Zeppelin print and becomes two rooms when the folding doors are shut.

Kim Mills said she kept a designer's touch in her teen-ager's room. Tyler picked the colors, "I just directed him," she said.

Greenmark Landscaping, owned by family friend Mark Erbesfield, did the hardscape around the home.
