An activist and art collector: Inside the home of Patty Berkovitz

Go inside the home of community activist Patty Berkovitz, who has a growing art collection in her Sandy Springs home. The home was recently renovated by Harrison Architects.

Patty Berkovitz, a community ombudsman who helps neighborhoods with development issues, spends time with her dogs and one of her horses at her childhood home, which she recently renovated.

The Sandy Springs home is filled with artwork, most of it wildly colorful, which is what caught the homeowner's eye. The painting to the far right is the piece she found in a rum bar in Barbados. The kitchen features antique green cabinets and granite counters. She didn't want an island, preferring a breakfast table that can easily be removed when she entertains.

The dining room holds a small part of Berkovitz's art collection. The large piece over the buffet is by artist Tres and is one of Berkovitz's most recent purchases.

This Linda Anderson painting is titled "Gathering Down." Anderson, a Clarksville artist, was one of the first whose work Berkovitz collected.

Another Ken Woodall painting is displayed in the upstairs guest bath.

Artwork by Canadian artist and author, Judith Christine Mills, hangs in the master bedroom.

A screened porch offers great views of the woods. This porch was expanded during the renovation.

Berkovitz moved the desk into this space to take advantage of the view while she worked. The painting over her desk is by Janet Munro.
