Hawks reserve guard Lou Williams was unavailable for Sunday night’s game due to a sore left hamstring. No further details on the extent of the injury or whether Williams would miss additional games were immediately known.
Williams is averaging 14.1 points over the past seven games, all off the bench, including 16 points in Friday’s win over the Cavaliers.
In other injury news, Pero Antic started against the Pacers after being declared a game-time decision due to a sore right ankle. Antic was stepped on against the Cavaliers. It is the same ankle that has bothered Antic much of the season, including 17 missed games due to a stress fracture.
Antic said he did not remember the incident that led to the soreness. Antic warmed up and received treatment before being declared available 45 minutes prior to game time.
Entering Sunday’s game, the starting unit of Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap and Antic was 11-5.
Scoreboard watching: Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer insists he didn't watch the key Eastern Conference game between the Heat and Knicks Sunday afternoon.
He sure knew who won the game.
The Heat defeated the Knicks, 102-91, to ensure the Hawks would keep a lead for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
“I’m focused on Indiana and our group,” Budenholzer said before the Hawks played the Pacers. “I think if we continue to play well and do the things we are talking about things will work out the way we want. Obviously, New York having more losses is good but I’m more worried about us having less and playing good. Ultimately, that is where my focus is.”
Great Scott: Mike Scott was a career-best 12 of 13 from the field in Friday's win over the Cavaliers en route to a game-high 26 points. He made his last 11 shots in the game, a run that was the longest single-game streak by a Hawks player since Josh Smith hit 11 in a row against the Nets Dec. 7, 2010.
In addition, the .923 field goal percentage was the highest by a Hawks player with at least 10 baskets since Dikembe Mutombo hit all 11 shots against the Timberwolves Dec. 14, 1999.
Scott scored the 26 points in 20 minutes. According to Elias Sports Bureau, he is the first player in Hawks history to score 25 or more points in 20 minutes or less.
Pacers travel woes: The Pacers were forced to stay overnight in Toronto after Friday's loss to the Raptors. A baggage cart was blown by the wind into the side of the team's charter plane and caused excessive damage.
The Pacers returned to Indianapolis Saturday afternoon and cancelled a planned practice.
