Golden State Warriors point guard thinks the Atlanta Hawks’ hiring of Lloyd Pierce as head coach was a smart move.

Curry spent two seasons with Pierce when he served as an assistant on the Warriors staff from 2010-2011. During those two years, Curry said he made a habit of reaching out to Pierce when he wanted to improve his game and run extra drills.

“To see what he’s done since he left the Warriors from Philly to now as a head coach, I think it’s well deserved,” Curry said in a video posted by the Hawks. “He’s a players coach and he’s going to try to put the guys in the right positions and really care about them. I think it’s a great thing for the Hawks and it’s a great hire.”

Pierce, who spent the 2013-2018 seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, agreed to a three-year deal with an option for a fourth year with the Hawks on Friday.
