During Sunday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers pitcher Bartolo Colon won a footrace to first against Dee Gordon and recorded the out.

In the fifth inning Gordon hit the ball to the gap between first and second, prompting the 44-year-old, 285 pound Colon to sprint to cover first. Colon got to the bag a split second before Gordon, forcing the second out of the inning and earning an ovation from the home crowd at Globe Life Park.

Colon, who spent part of last season with the Atlanta Braves, pitched 5.2 innings against the Mariners, allowing seven hits, four runs, one home run, one walk and two strikeouts.

The Rangers went on to beat the Mariners, 7-4.
