Chase Kalisz, who completed his college eligibility in March, won the men’s 400-meter individual medley on Thursday after recording a time of 4:06.99— the fastest time in the world this year. Thursday’s win marked Kalisz’s third national title in the event.

In second place was rising senior Jay Litherland from Alpharetta, Ga. with a time of 4:09.31. Litherland’s time on Thursday ranked fourth in the world so this year.

In third place was Gunner Bentz recorded the eighth-fastest time in the world this year with 4:11.66. Bentz is a rising senior at Georgia from Atlanta.

After competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics, Kalisz and Litherland will attend the World Championships in Hungry in July with the United States swim team.
