Chuck Hagel was probably pretty shocked Tuesday afternoon when he learned he had lost his job, at least according to Wikipedia.

The online encyclopedia, which allows anyone to update its information, had a new entry for the United States Secretary of Defense: Tim Howard.

The goalkeeper for the U.S. soccer team, which was knocked out of the World Cup after a 2-1 loss to Belgium Tuesday, recorded a staggering 16 saves in the match — the most in recorded World Cup history.

The entry was quickly corrected, but even Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales admitted he wasn’t totally against the fake update.

“I do NOT APPROVE of vandalizing wikipedia for comedic effect,” Wales tweeted. “But this is exquisite.”

Quite a few people were talking about Howard during the match yesterday — over 1.8 million in fact. Check out the gallery above for some highlights.
