The Texas Longhorns honored guard Andrew Jones Wednesday after his family announced Jones was diagnosed with leukemia earlier in the day.

On Wednesday night, the Longhorns chose to honor Jones after the team rallied to defeat TCU 99-98 in double overtime by holding up Jones’ jersey as the band played the University’s fight song.

“Our guys really wanted to win for Andrew,” Longhorns coach Shaka Smart said after the game. “He’s the one that’s been on our minds and on our hearts and I’m really proud of the way they fought. I hope (Jones is) listening right now. I hope he knows we love him.

Before suffering a wrist injury in early December, Jones— a 6-foot-4 sophomore from Irving, Texas— led the Longhorns in scoring with 15.3 points per game.
