Georgia Tech player personnel assistant director Mike Cassano has taken an assistant coaching position at Massachusetts.

Cassano was hired last May as part of an expansion of the team’s recruiting staff. Cassano returns to Massachusetts, where he was an assistant 1998-2003. During that time, he coached under Mark Whipple, who was named head coach Tuesday for a second tenure in that position.

Cassano had been looking to get back into on-field coaching.
