The College Football Playoff championship, pitting Ohio State against Notre Dame on Monday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is on track to be the best-selling CFP-era game in StubHub history, per a release.

The average price of tickets sold on StubHub has remained “steady at $2,500, and of the tickets sold, 17 percent are for buyers in Ohio, most of any state, according to StubHub

The ticket demand for the game has already exceeded the demand of all of the other CFP title matchups dating back to 2019.

The new 12-team CFP format, which replaces the four-team playoff that had been in place the previous 10 years, has seen tickets surge throughout.

The New Year’s Six major college bowl games — the Peach, Orange, Fiesta, Rose, Sugar and Cotton, which acted as quarterfinal and semifinal games this year — also saw a 25 percent increase in sales from last year, per StubHub.

CFP championship ticket prices

As of Saturday, nearly 700 tickets were still available on StubHub, with the lowest price for a single ticket being $1,865 (before service fees). Several lower bowl options were listed at prices north of $10,000 up to more than $14,000.

Other ticket resellers, such as SeatGeek and Vivid Seats, had comparable pricing, with Vivid Seats having the lowest get-in price at $1,710.

Student ticket allotment, pricing

Not counting students who purchased tickets outside university channels, Notre Dame’s student body will outnumber Ohio State’s in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium stands.

In their 20,000-ticket allotments, both schools have 500 each set aside in a section paid for by sponsor Taco Bell. That was the total distribution for Ohio State students from the university.

Notre Dame took an additional 500 from its allocation for students and swallowed $300 of the $450 ticket price to make it more affordable. Both schools’ bands also receive 500 tickets for their use.

For last year’s championship, Washington allotted 500 tickets to its students and Michigan had 1,000.
