Though he doesn’t know when, MLS Commissioner Don Garber on Wednesday said that he is very optimistic that the league will resume in home markets after the Orlando tournament is completed.

“All of our fans should expect that to happen,” he said.

Garber said that the league may not able to announce anything regarding the resumption of the regular season for 4-5 weeks.

Citing the opening of more markets around North America after sequestering forced by COVID-19, Garber said there is the possibility that in some markets supporters may be able to attend games.

Atlanta United has led the MLS in attendance each of the past three seasons, averaging more than 52,000 tickets sold and distributed during that span.

The Orlando tournament is scheduled to be completed Aug. 11. It will start July 8.
