Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron was named MLS Player of the Month for April, the league announced on Thursday.

In April, Almiron had a league-leading five goals and two assists in four games for the unbeaten Five Stripes (3-0-1). The midfielder was named the Player of the Week last week after he scored two goals in Atlanta United’s 4-1 victory over Montreal on Saturday.

For the season, Almiron has six goals and four assists in eight games for Atlanta United (6-1-1).  He is tied for the league lead in goals with teammate Josef Martinez, tied for fourth in MLS in assists (four) and leads MLS in shots (47) through eight games. He is one of only two players in MLS with at least five goals and four assists along with New York’s Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The 24-year old from Paraguay was the MLS Newcomer of the Year last season.

Atlanta United plays at Chicago on Saturday night with their seven-game unbeaten streak on the line.
